Stories about and from Sweden, the Humanitarian Superpower

Washington Post Logoskriver den 30 december 2015 i en artikel om Sverige, under rubriken Even Europe’s humanitarian superpower is turning its back on refugees:

The country’s dramatic shift threatens to wreak havoc all the way down Europe’s migrant trail in 2016 by setting off a domino effect in which countries seal their borders for fear that their neighbors will do the same.
——————————–
Instead of a permanent home in Sweden, new arrivals will be eligible only for a temporary stay of between one and three years, with the government vowing to accept no more than the minimum number of refugees required under European Union law. Rules for bringing family members to Sweden will become much tighter.
——————————–
In ever-polite, welcoming and humanitarian-minded Sweden, the new policies have triggered intense soul-searching. Announcing the changes in November, the deputy prime minister choked back tears.

Stories from SwedenUnder tiden 14 juni – 14 september 2014 skrev jag på sajten medium.com 17 artiklar på engelska under samlingsrubriken Stories from Sweden, the Humanitarian Superpower.

So the massive police presence in a small park in the heart of Stockholm, was not caused by a terrorist attack of some sort or any other criminal activity. No, it was caused by the fact that a political figure, a leader of a parliamentary party, would be speaking in our small, normally so quiet park in Södermalm!

Many of the asylum seekers — especially those who are used to much better living conditions — are appalled by what awaits them in Sweden. The fact that 300–350 people arrive every day (!), is an unimaginable strain on the municipalities that are supposed to receive them and put a roof over their heads. It also puts overwhelming pressure on the Swedish society: its people, the Migration Board and migration courts, schools, doctors and hospitals, dentists, Police etc.

There is also a growing concern among the Swedes that they will be losing the welfare and benefits that they have worked so hard for during hundred years.

The Prime Minister of Sweden, however, considers peoples concerns and fears xenophobic.

In his speech, the Prime Minister of Sweden told the people that as a result of the extreme influx of asylum seekers to the country, he will not make any promises of any kind of improvements and/or reforms at all for the coming four years, since it will cost too much to receive all the people seeking asylum in the small country of Sweden (population: less than ten million)

Another option is to buy you a Syrian citizenship because with that you will get permanent visa very quickly from the Migration Board in Sweden. The cost for that is very cheap compared to the cost of —  worst case scanario — the tickets for going back to Dubai or Denmark every month/every three months to renew your visiting visa. The only problem with this is that you look Chinese and not Syrian…
